Desserts Through the decades - creative campaign for Bookatable uk
Creative Concept
Restaurant booking service Bookatable were looking to reach new audiences with a quirky, fun, informative creative campaign. The solution was an editorial graphic, listing trends and fads in the world of desserts from the 1910s to the present day. I was responsible for all editorial, emulating Bookatable’s brand TOV (irreverent, conversational and informative) to detail the development of desserts through the decades. The final campaign was picked up and shared by multiple large media outlets, including the Daily Mail.
Excerpts
‘60s chefs were obsessed with setting literally anything in brightly coloured jelly, including chopped vegetables, egg, and, sadly, spam. Luckily the dessert versions were a lot more palatable, mainly featuring canned fruit and pineapple rings, topped off with a squirt of whipped cream, naturally.’
‘An expert melange of hot and cold, this culinary creation was the souffle of its time - hard to master, but endlessly impressive if you did. Serving up the baked meringue coated, ice cream masterpiece at a dinner party was sure to get the neighbours’ curtains twitching.’
